I have always been a rather active person, but never liked lifting weights or going to the gym, but I wanted to have a space dedicated to exercise. It’s too easy to get distracted at home with a chore, cleaning up, talking with neighbors or family and then before I know it I don’t have time to workout. I also didn’t want to commit to a gym just for me to exercise, so what I decided on was a climbing gym. Here in LA, we have a couple places to choose from and I found Sender One Climbing to be the best.
Most people into rock climbing that I have encountered are generally into holistic fitness and not just trying to be really skinny or bulking up. Sender One has a great fitness area, sauna, yoga classes and they give me free passes so I can bring my wife or kiddos. Most members are active in the outdoors and this has been great for us. I got some tips on great places to climb with my kids on the weekend from one of the members I was chatting with after working out.
I got pretty lucky in that after signing up, they opened a third location that was only a 5 minute drive away. It has a smaller workout area and is mainly for bouldering, but it’s been great to have.
I have been climbing on and off my whole life so this felt like a great choice. Not only could I workout, but I have been able to use my free passes to hang out with my wife a couple times each month. Not only is adding climbing to my list of extra exercises, but it’s been a fun and easy way to go out with the Mrs.
